Minor impacts
Civil War

The cotton gin was a major cause of the Civil war. Before the cotton gin slavery was on its way out, then slavery increased dramatically once it was invented. Once land had been "worn out" from growing cotton they had to move and take over territory which led to the decision for the states to be "Free states" or "Slave states".
Cotton production increased

Cotton was easy to grow but too difficult to clean. Once the cotton gin was invented it was now a shorter amount of time to clean. Cotton was now grown and harvested more. Cotton was more lucrative so food supply decreased because more cotton was being grown.
Peoples lives

The cotton gin changed people's lives, some for the good, some for the bad. Positively the cotton gin allowed some areas to become major shipping ports for cotton and it allowed much greater productivity than modern cotton separation. Negatively slavery increased and Native Americans were pushed out of land to make more room for cotton farms.
Cash crop

Cotton became the number one cash crop. It became easier to clean and so easy to grow. Sense more cotton was now able to grow, more cotton was being bought. Within 10 years, the value of the U.S cotton crop rose from $150,00 to more than $8 million.
The country

It transformed the agriculture in the south and deepened the reliance of slavery. Cotton became a major crop grown. More cotton was planted and more was exported. Sense more needed to be exported more transportation ways were created. Slavery increased in the country which made arguments with other parts of the country.
Increase in Slavery

Cotton production increased which increased slavery. More cotton was being planted which called for more slaves to harvest the cotton. More slaves were needed which caused the value of them to go up. In 20 years there was a 70% increase in slaves.
